Gabe P
Mentored under radio hall-of-famer, Angie Martinez, as a Power 105.1 intern, the 26-year-old Long Island native recognized that in rap interviews no one was, “representing for the young kids.” So in 2018, in an empty studio in the iHeart Music building, Gabe P started the radio show On The Radar while simultaneously handling Power 105.1’s social media accounts. OTR now boasts over 270k subscribers on its YouTube channel and has become a pivotal part of the burgeoning New York drill scene, giving a platform to artists to tell their story and showcase their bars. No follower-count or prestige is required to be a guest, just a passion for music and the courage to step behind a live mic.
“...it is my job to be a voice and a vessel for artists to share their experiences and music through.” - Gabe P
Nyla Symone
Although she’s one of the youngest DJs at New York’s #1 radio station for Hip-Hop & R&B, Power 105.1, Nyla Symone knows a thing or two from working with radio greats like Angie Martinez and The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne Tha God. Nyla started in college radio and created her own blog called The Vibe before working at The Nocturnal and The Source. She then interned at Power 105.1 for the Angie Martinez Show and soon got her big break as a station DJ in 2019. She’s since then made appearances on The Breakfast Club, identifying new and up-and-coming artists, and in 2021, launched The What?! Podcast with Mouse Jones on Charlamagne Tha God’s and iHeartMedia’s The Black Effect Podcast Network.
“I love good music and I’m a fan of Hip Hop - it’s my culture.” - Nyla Symone
